Liverpool’s new kit for 2012/13

Liverpool have announced their new kit for the 2012/13 season.  The new kit is made for Liverpool by the American sports manufacturer company Warrior Sports, who are designing the kit for a Premiership side for the first time.  The kit is all red with a subtle embedded pin stripe on the front.  The manufacturers name, sponsors name and the Liverbird badge in yellow.  The shirt has mesh panels on the sides to enhance ventilation, comfort and movement.  On the outside back of the neck also in yellow are the eternal flames and the numbers 96 to commemorate those who died in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who is pictured modeling the kit, said he is really impressed with the kit adding, “It’s retro, it’s comfortable, it’s good on the eye and the yellow is back which, of course, is the natural colour of the Liverbird.”

Liverpool’s forward Craig Bellamy, also praised the shirt, noting that in giving reference to Liverpool’s glorious past it will hopefully be symbolic of a successful future.  “It reminds me of the Liverpool kits from the seventies and early eighties.  It’s a throwback to the earlier years when I was growing up watching Liverpool” added the Welsh striker.
