Juventus new away kit for 2012/13
The reigning Italian champions, Juventus, have unveiled their away kit for the approaching new season. Made by Nike, the shirt is a return to sober colours after last season’s pink away top. It is predominantly all flood black, a colour chosen to highlight the club’s desire and hunger for success, and features the name of the club’s new sponsor Jeep. The shirt is complemented with all black shorts and socks. The socks have Juventus written in white upon them. The crew neck design is inspired by the 1942 Coppa Italia winning jersey. On the inner neck of the shirt is the club motto: “Vincere Non È Importante È L’Unica Cosa che Conta” (Winning is not important, it is everything), a symbolic sentence once uttered by the Juventus legend and honourary club president Giampiero Boniperti.
Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who is currently starring for Italy at Euro 2012 is here seen modeling Juventus’ new away shirt.
The kit is made from Nike’s recycled polyester, which is their most environmentally friendly kit ever produced. Each kit is made using up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles. This innovative manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester, and Nike has used an estimated 115 million recycled plastic bottles to create its high performance kits since 2010. The kits are also 23% lighter Nike’s previous kits and feature Nike Dri-FIT technology to help keep the player and fab cool and dry.
