Charlton sponsorship with JD Sports in doubt

Charlton Athletic has resigned themselves to losing current shirt sponsor JD Sports (Cabrini Sportswear). The club’s deal with the sportswear company is due to expire at the end of the 08/09 season and they have serious doubts as to whether the company will be willing to renew following the club’s latest setback.

Charlton were one of three clubs to be relegated to League 1 this year after finishing bottom with only 39 points.

Steve Waggott, Charlton CEO, said: “We’ve gone through a torrid couple of months where every area of the business has been interrogated to get the budget alligned to a vast reduction in income. The likelihood of JD renewing is remote, so we will have to widen the net as we look to attract a new shirt sponsor.”
